Men's Baseball - vs. Kenyon (Ohio) College
WIN STREAK REACHES SEVEN WITH DEFEAT OF LORDS

With their 10-5 victory over Kenyon (Ohio) College (11-5) in game two of a doubleheader with the Lords on Friday morning, St. Scholastica (9-3) pushed their current win streak to seven games. Within their unbeaten streak, they've outscored opponents 108 runs to 16.

After crushing Kenyon 20-1 in the twinbill opener, the Saints jumped ahead in game two with three runs in the second and four more in the third. Starer Keith Ritsche surrendered three runs in the first inning to the Lords but was solid the rest of the way in keeping Kenyon off the scoreboard.

Ritsche picked up the win with six innings of seven-hit ball in which he allowed only those three early runs. He gave way to closer Dan Lanari in the seventh who gave up two runs but picked up a strikeout in closing out the win for St. Scholastica.

Freshman Sean Claugherty hit his first collegiate homerun for the Saints in the victory, finishing off a 2-for-3 day with an RBI and three runs scored.

Brandon Swartz also had a multi-hit game with a 3-for-4 performance that produced an RBI and two runs.

Darin Carlson and Chad Weiss each picked up one hit in the game. Carlson finished with three RBI and Weiss with 2 RBI.

Friday morning's sweep of the Lords is the second consecutive season in which the Saints have swept Kenyon over the spring trip in Florida. Last season the Saints took game one 15-4 then closed out the sweep with a tight 1-0 win.

The Saints have one more game in Florida, a Saturday morning match up with Carleton (Minn.) College, before getting on the road for the return trip to Duluth. Their first game upon returning from Florida will be in the Minneapolis Metrodome on Saturday, March 24, for a scheduled doubleheader against Concordia-Moorhead.
