Women's Softball - vs. Univ. of New England
WIN STREAK REACHES FIVE WITH WIN OVER NOREASTERS
St. Scholastica defeated the University of New England (Maine) on Thursday afternoon for the second time in three days with an 11-5 win in Tucson, Arizona, which pushed the Saints season record over the .500 mark to 6-5. The Noreasters dropped to 1-5 with the loss. Three big innings pushed the Saints on top beginning with a four-run third that put the Saints ahead 4-0 and gave starter pitcher Amy Jansen a comfort bale cushion. The Saints pushed three more across in the fifth, and four more in the seventh. Jansen allowed only a pair of earned runs on four hits, five walks and four strikeouts in seven innings on the mound to earn the win for the Saints. Erica Kozacek led the Saints hitting attack with a 3-for-4 day. She just missed hitting for the cycle as her single, double, and homerun produced four RBI. She also scored three of the team's 11 runs. Kris Peterson also had a multi-hit game for the Saints with a 2-for-3 outing. On Tuesday afternoon, the Saints also scored 11 runs against the Noreasters with an 11-1 rout in five innings.
