Men's Baseball - vs. Univ. of St. Thomas
SAINTS FALL TO TOMMIES 5-3

St. Scholastica (2-2) was unable to make a comeback after No. 14 St. Thomas (1-1) jumped on top with a three run first inning.

Of the three runs the Tommies pushed across the plate, two were unearned as the Saints committed a pair of errors in the inning.

The Saints and Tommies went run-for-run in both the second and third innings which still left St. Scholastica trailing 5-2 after three. A solo bomb from senior Daryl Fuchihara in the top of the eighth brought the Saints within two but they would get no closer in the loss to the team that eliminated them at the 2006 NCAA Midwest Regional.

Despite out hitting the Tommies 12 to five, the Saints fell 5-3 in their fourth game of the season.

Fuchihara led the Saints at the plate, going 3-for-4 and adding two runs and an RBI. Mark Moriarty took the loss on the mound for the Saints, falling to 1-1 on the season. Sophomore Adian Kummet came in on relief in the fourth and only surrendered one run through the final five innings, striking out four in the process.

St. Thomas was led by Eric Fleming, who scored two runs and picked up an RBI. Dan Leslie took the win on the mound for the Tommies while Eric Olson recorded the save.

With a record of 2-2, St. Scholastica will next face Penn State-Behrend in game one of their Florida slate. The Saints will spend a week in Fort Pierce, Florida, for their next nine games.
