Men's Basketball - vs. PRESENTATION COLLEGE
WIN STREAK HITS FIVE WITH SAINTS WIN OVER PRESENTATION

Their push in the conference standings is coming at exactly the right time for the Saints from St. Scholastica.

Saturday afternoon’s 72-59 defeat of the Saints from Presentation College  (9-14, 6-7 UMAC) increased their unbeaten streak to five as the St. Scholastica (12-12, 9-4 UMAC) regular season schedule nears it’s end.

On Senior Day at the Reif Center, St. Scholastica opened up a lead over Presentation by as many as 21 points in the first half and took a 40-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

After shooting over 43 percent from the field in the first half, the Saints shot a horrendous 29 percent in the second while Presentation tried to chip away at the large lead.

St. Scholastica was up by 18 five minutes into the half but Presentation cut that to only four over the next 10 minutes.

Ahead 62-56 with 4:32 remaining, the host Saints closed out the game on a 10-3 run to stifle Presentation’s comeback bid.

Sophomore Kyle Allen led the Saints in scoring with 16 points — 14 in the first half — before an injury ended his night. Senior co-captain Will Maupins had 15 points along with a game-high 11 rebounds to record his eighth double-double this season.

Senior co-captain Derek Johnson also closed out his Reif career in the win, scoring nine points to move his career total to 1,307 points, fourth highest in program history.

Joe Prettner played his final game at the St. Scholastica floor as well and the senior walked off the court with a career-high nine points.

St. Scholastica entered the day tied for third place in the conference standings with Martin Luther College (8-4 UMAC) but the Knights loss at Northwestern while the Saints were defeating Presentation moves St. Scholastica into sole possession of third  place in the UMAC with one regular season contest remaining for both schools.
