Women's Basketball - vs. PRESENTATION COLLEGE
ST. SCHOLASTICA FALLS TO PRESENTATION IN HOME FINALE
In the home finale for the Saints and their four seniors, St. Scholastica (10-14, 6-7 UMAC) lost a 62-52 decision to Presentation College (12-11, 10-3 UMAC) at the Reif Center on Saturday afternoon. Following a Friday night game in which she came off the bench to lead the Saints in scoring, sophomore Erin Niles got the start against Presentation and again led St. Scholastica, racking up 23 points in the loss. Down only eight at the half, St. Scholastica scored the first point of the second half when Heather Saralampi hit the second of two free throws. Presentation went on a 14-0 run, though, to then extend their lead to 21. Niles broke the streak with a pair of free throws with 11:35 to play. Applying full court pressure defense, the Saints whittled the Presentation lead down slowly, but the closest they could get would be the final 10 point margin. Callie Antonsen was a one women show for Presentation scoring 43 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, both game-highs. The rest of her teammates scored only 19 points. The four St. Scholastica seniors walked off the Reif court one final time after the loss. Saralampi finished with 11 points and a team-high five rebounds, Amanda Johnson finished with eight points and three rebounds, Jessie Stenberg scored six, and Kim Huschle added four points. St. Scholastica has one game remaining on their schedule, a Tuesday, February 20 date with the LumberJills of Northland College at 5:30 p.m. in Ashland, Wis.
