Women's Basketball - vs. Martin Luther College
SECOND HALF SURGE LEADS SAINTS PAST KNIGHTS ON THE ROAD

Following a first half that saw the two teams enter the intermission knotted at 34, St. Scholastica (6-11, 2-4 UMAC) ran away from Martin Luther (2-14, 1-5 UMAC) in the second half for an easy 64-48 road win.

The visiting Saints began to pull away from the host Knights three minutes into the second half with a 16-0 run that put them in command, and then happily traded baskets and free throws with the hosts until the final buzzer.

Six different Saints scored in the run that blew the game wide open and gave the Saints their first road win of the season.

Freshman Kirsten Haukom scored a game-high 14 points for St. Scholastica while sophomore Megan Downs (13 points) and freshman Ashley Lubbers (10 points) also reached double-figures.

Lubbers finished with eight rebounds to lead the Saints and Haukom finished as the team's assist leader with four in the victory.

Though they outscored the Knights 30 to 14 in the second half, the Saints didn't have their best shooting night from the field as they hit only nine of 32 (28%). But they were 11-of-17 from the free throw line and held Martin Luther to only four baskets from the floor over the entire second half.

The Saints stay on the road with a Saturday afternoon game at Bethany Lutheran. Tip off is slated for 3 p.m.
