Men's Basketball - vs. Presentation College
SAINTS WORK OVERTIME IN WIN AT PRESENTATION
After battling back from a six-point halftime deficit to force the game into overtime, St. Scholastica reeled off 14 unanswered points and held host Presentation College scoreless in the extra period to pull off a 77-63 win Friday night in Aberdeen, S.D.
Brady Zubke had a career- and game-high 27 points while senior Will Maupins picked up his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 24 and ripping down a game-high 14 rebounds, to lead the Saints to their second win in a row.
Senior Derek Johnson added nine rebounds and 16 points to increase his career total to 1,149 points, sixth on the team's all-time scoring list.
The biggest factor in the game was an improved second-half defense from St. Scholastica as they held Presentation to only 12-of-34 (35%) from the field while making their comeback on the hosts.
St. Scholastica had fought back in the second half to take a 63-61 lead with 11 ticks remaining in the game but Presentation's Michael Heim sank a jumper just before the buzzer to save the host school.
From there, though, it was all St. Scholastica as Johnson started the OT off with a 3-pointer and the visiting Saints never looked back.
St. Scholastica (6-9, 3-1 UMAC) moves on to play at Minn.-Morris Saturday afternoon while Presentation (4-9, 2-2) welcomes Northland College.
