Men's Basketball - vs. University of St. Thomas
SAINTS FALL IN HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT OPENER
The Saints shot 54 percent from the field nearly matching St. Thomas' 55 percent, but St. Scholastica couldn't shut down the Tommies' hot shooting from beyond the 3-point arc as they fell to St. Thomas 82-76 in the opening round of the UW-River Falls Cenex Harvest States Tournament on Friday night.
Junior Brady Zubke led the Saints with 20 points and senior Will Maupins added 19, but the Saints couldn't match the 75 percent 3-point shooting by the Tommies that enabled them to maintain their narrow halftime lead for the entire second half.
The Saints (3-8 overall) will play in Saturday's consolation game against the loser of the Friday evening game between River Falls and North Central. The winner of that game will play St. Thomas (7-1) in the Tournament final.
