Men's Basketball - vs. Nebraska Wesleyan
HALFTIME LEAD FAILS TO HOLD UP
A three-point first half lead slipped away as the Saints allowed a monster of a second half from host Nebraska Wesleyan in the second game of the NWU Tournament on Friday afternoon in Lincoln, Nebraska, falling to the Prairie Wolves by the score of 89-79.
The Saints held a 34-31 lead at the intermission behind 60 percent shooting from the field and by hitting 3-of-4 attempts from the free throw line.
NWU erased the Saints' lead and outscored the visitors 58 to 45 in the second half to capture the win.
For the second game in a row, senior Will Maupins led the Saints in scoring, tying his career high of three nights ago when he pumped in 19 against UM-Duluth. Maupins just missed the double-double as he also led the Saints in rebounds, pulling down nine in the loss to Neb. Wesleyan.
Junior Brady Zubke added 16 points for the Saints while senior Derek Johnson and sophomore Kyle Allen chipped with 11 apiece in the losing effort.
Freshman Kyle Eller led the Prairie Wolves with 26 and sophomore Ryan Glantz added 17, all in the second half.
The Saints fall to 1-3 on the season while Neb. Wesleyan remains undefeated and pushed their record to 4-0.
