Women's Basketball - vs. NORTH CENTRAL UNIVERSITY
SAINTS CRUISE TO EASY WIN IN HOME OPENER

The Saints got 70 points from their bench as they easily handled North Central University, defeating the Rams 98-52 Tuesday night at the Reif Center at St. Scholastica.

Saints sophomore Megan Downs led all scorers with 19 points and junior teammate Ashley Lubbers added 13 in the winning effort that raised the Saints’ season record to 2-1.

Stephanie Koopman had 15 points to lead the Rams who drop to 1-3 on the year.

The Saints broke out in front quickly, scoring 10 unanswered points after the opening tip. With a 13-5 lead, they went on a 15-0 run and by the time North Central reached double-digits the Saints were cruising at 38-11 with all of their starters on the bench. St. Scholastica entered the intermission up 54-20.

Head coach Stacy Deadrick went to her bench early and often, using all 14 players in uniform for at least eight minutes of game action.

Downs and Lubbers were the only Saints who scored in double-figures but 13 Saints scored four or more points in the contest.

The Saints are back in action November 25 with a Saturday afternoon home contest against UW-Stout. The Blue Devils coasted to an 85-45 win over Northwestern College while the Saints were brushing aside North Central.
