Women's Basketball - vs. Lawrence University
SAINTS EVEN RECORD WITH WIN OVER LAWRENCE

St. Scholastica evened their early season mark to 1-1 with a 64-50 win over Lawrence (Iowa) University on Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the UW-Stevens Point Tip-Off Tournament.

Heather Saralampi had a game-high 14 points for the Saints and registered six rebounds and a block in the win.

Amanda Johnson (13 points) and Whitney Latham (11) also reached double-figures in scoring for St. Scholastica.

Saints sophomore Katie Cross ruled the boards in the contest, ripping down a game-high 16 rebounds, and was also the game-leader in assists with four. She chipped in eight points to just miss the double-double.

Cross earned All-Tournament and Top Rebounder honors for her weekend efforts. She had four rebounds and seven points in the Saints' 58-55 loss to Viterbo University on Friday.

The Saints -- who never trailed in the contest -- led by as many as 19 points in the first half, however, Lawrence would trim the lead to nine with 7:29 to play before a 6-0 St. Scholastica run expanded the lead again.

One more time, with just under four minutes left, Lawrence would once again cut the lead to only nine but just as before, the Saints went on another run, this time 7-to-1, in extinguish the threat and bring home their first victory of the 2006-07 season.

The Saints out-rebounded Lawrence 50 to 27 in the game, helping limit their opponent to only four second-chance points in the contest. The Saints, on the other hand, scored 21 points off second-chance opportunities.
