Procedures:

Before Acceptance

  1. Complete the application form

  2. Have two letters of reference sent directly to: (email may be used: slyons@css.edu)

    Steve Lyons,
    Vice President for Student Affairs
    and Dean of Students
    The College of St. Scholastica
    1200 Kenwood Avenue
    Duluth, MN 55811

CSS students may give reference forms to referees. One reference should come from the academic advisor.

  3. Non-CSS students should arrange to have a transcript sent to Steve Lyons. Non-CSS students should work with their home school financial aid office. Letters of acceptance will be sent to successful candidates on the basis of application, references, GPA check, and student affairs check. There is rolling admissions until the 24 places are filled. A waiting list is then established.

After Acceptance

  1. Deposit $100.00 to be applied to the cottage rental to reserve a place. This will not be refundable after
    October 1, 2007.

  2. Make an appointment with the College Health Service, obtain health and emergency notification form and bring it to the Health Service for completion. It should be forwarded to Steve Lyons by November 30, 2007.

  3. Make personal as well as group travel plans. We will meet as a group for the group plans. Currently, the College uses Joan DeVault of Skyline Travel, (218) 723-8747, 4897 Miller Trunk Highway. If students are originating from other than Duluth or Minneapolis, travel arrangements should be made to meet the student group on arrival at Shannon for the chartered bus; they may be made through Skyline Travel if desired.

  4. Apply for a passport. You can get a passport form and instructions from the internet: www.travel.state.gov or simply search under passport. You can also get forms from the post office. If you print from the computer, be sure the passport space is 2" x 2". Some printers reduce it slightly. This will not be accepted.
All students will go to Ireland together, spending fourteen weeks in Louisburgh and with extensive travel through the country. Following that time, students may return home. However, many students plan to spend a couple of weeks in England and Scotland. These students arrange with the travel agent and obtain Britrail passes if desired.

A few spend more time on the continent and buy Eurail passes to have unlimited access to trains for a limited amount of time. These must be purchased before leaving the U.S.
