Women's Soccer - vs. NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE
MOMSEN SETS SHUTOUT RECORD WITH WIN OVER EAGLES

Junior Kelly Momsen waited two years to step into the keeper’s box for three-time All-Conference goalie Kristin Lammi who graduated last May.

And in Friday afternoon’s 5-0 win over the Northwestern College Eagles (7-9-1, 6-7-0 UMAC) at Public Schools Stadium in Duluth, Momsen recorded her ninth shutout of the season, breaking Lammi’s single-season record of eight which she set over the 2004 season.

St. Scholastica (16-1-1, 13-0-0 UMAC) won their 14th game in a row and recorded their ninth consecutive shutout victory in the win over the Eagles who were the last team to score on the Saints, almost a month ago in a 2-1 win over Northwestern in St. Paul.

Senior Keely Raab played a part in both of the team’s first two goals, opening the game’s scoring with an unassisted goal at 17:32 of the first half then perfectly centering a corner kick that freshman Ellen Litecky was able to deflect in for her first collegiate goal at the 35:52 mark.

Conference-leading scorer sophomore Robin Johnson scored the next two goals for the Saints, first off a cross from senior Krista Parrent 2:23 into the second half and then on a ball that sophomore Kayla Heinzen sent down the center ahead of Johnson in the 79th minute.

Freshman Angie Groh closed the scoring for the Saints with a goal from 20 yards out off a free kick that snuck just under the cross bar and over the Eagles keeper hands.

Momsen is having a break out season in goal for the Saints. She now owns a 0.34 goals against average and a .930 saves percentage both of which would be single-season records if the season finished today.

The Saints are assured first place in the conference regular season and, as a result, will play host for the post-season tournament to be played on the first weekend of November at PSS.
