Women's Soccer - vs. MARTIN LUTHER COLLEGE
SAINTS UNSEAT KNIGHTS WITH SHUTOUT
St. Scholastica pounded out 11 scores from 34 shots on goal in their shutout victory Saturday afternoon against UMAC foe Martin Luther College.
The Saints (10-1-1 overall, 7-0-0 UMAC) remained undefeated in the conference with the win and extended their win streak to eight games.
Averaging just over 15 shots on goal per game entering Saturday’s match, St. Scholastica’s offense was unstoppable and seemed to come from everywhere. Consider:
· Sophomore Robin Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) netted the first hat trick of her collegiate career and also added an assist for the first seven-point game of her career
· Senior Krista Parrent (Proctor, Minn.) scored consecutive goals 4:25 apart for only the second two-goal game of her career, and an early assist gave Parrent her first five-point game
· Senior Keely Raab’s (Duluth, Minn./East HS) consecutive goals – 1:37 apart – and three assists gave her her first seven-point game and moves her up to 6th on the all-time points list
· Senior Nicole Seguin’s (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld HS) first goal of the season leaves her 8th on the all-time points list
· Sophomore Kaya Heinzen (Duluth, Minn./East HS) scored the first goal of her collegiate career
Junior Shannon Kresky (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld, HS) and freshman Angie Groh (Andover, Minn./St. Francis HS) also scored a goal apiece for the Saints.
Junior Kelly Momsen (Austin, Minn.) was in goal for the Saints and stopped the only two shots that came her way. The win improves her season record to 8-1-1 and was her fifth shutout.
Through their win streak the Saints have scored 35 goals and only surrendered two. For the season, the Saints have netted 40 goals and given up five.
After 12 games, the Saints will now work their way through conference opponents a second time. In the first time through the UMAC, the Saints allowed only one goal, coming in a 2-1 win at Northwestern College.
