Overview

The School of Education fosters high academic standards, technological literacy, collaborative partnerships, and a diverse learner perspective throughout its programs. Faculty members have significant K-12 and administrative experience, allowing them to bring real-world perspective to their students. Licensure programs are standards based, designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions characteristic of highly qualified educational professionals.

The School offers 13 licensure programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including School Library Media Specialist licensure, and an interdisciplinary major in Ojibwe Language and Culture Education.

The School has a long history of offering online graduate degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Media and Technology. The Graduate Teaching Licensure Program (GTL) is an innovative program that offers working adults an initial teaching license through an accelerated format. Classes are offered through a hybrid model of online and onsite learning.

Dean Jo Olsen joined St. Scholastica in 2000. She earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Her B.S. degree is in psychology and sociology and her M.S. is in school psychology. Jo has extensive experience as a school psychologist in Minnesota and Wisconsin K-12 school districts.
