SAINTS FINISH 5TH WITH WIN AT CLASSIC; MOODY EARNS ALL-TOURNAMENT NOD

St. Scholastica stretched their win streak to three with a 3-1 win over Saint Mary's University on Saturday afternoon at the Sugarloaf Classic hosted by Saint Mary's in Winona, Minnesota.

The Saints opened the match with a 30-26 game one victory but lost game two by the identical score.

An overpowering St. Scholastica squad pounded the host Cardinal in taking game three, 30-17, then finished the match with a 30-27 win in game four.

Erin Niles registered 22 kills for the Saints to lead all players in the match and teammate Shawna Varichak added 18, her fifth consecutive match in double-figures.

Defensive specialist Diana Moody had 36 digs in the win for the Saints, then picked up All-Tournament honors after registering 122 digs through four matches at the Classic.

St. Scholastica (3-6 overall) finished in fifth place at the tournament which was won by Wartburg College. The Saints will carry their win streak into next weekend's CSS/UWS Border Battle on Friday and Saturday contested at UWS on Friday and in the Reif at CSS on Saturday.
