The College of St. Scholastica's Asian Fun Club will host a fireworks display at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, on the soccer field behind Tower Hall on the St. Scholastica campus.
The fireworks are in celebration of Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year's Day was Feb. 7; the celebration usually lasts 15 days.
"A popular belief in China is that the noise of the fireworks is supposed to scare away all evil spirits, preventing them from coming into the new year," said Wing Chan, vice president of the Asian Fun Club and one of the event organizers.
The display will last approximately seven minutes. Refreshments will be available after the display in the Intercultural Center in the lower level of Tower Hall.
