Welcome to an exciting nursing option available to college graduates with non-nursing majors interested in becoming Registered Nurses. This program will be based on the same philosophy and outcomes as our traditional undergraduate program, incorporating an integrated approach to learning with a concentration in the nursing major. Upon completion students will be eligible to apply for an RN license and enter the nursing workforce, fulfilling the desire to begin a rewarding career in healthcare. A cohort will begin each May and will run 15 months.

Students in the program will work with nursing faculty and expert nurse preceptors in both urban and rural healthcare facilities. Your clinical and practical experiences will complement what you learn in the classroom. As a nursing graduate you will be competent in providing holistic nursing care to individuals in a variety of communities.

In the Post-Baccalaureate Program, a total of 50 credits in nursing coursework is required for completion of the nursing major. The certificate awarded upon completion of this program is called the Baccalaureate in Nursing Certificate. It was approved as a certificate by the Federal Department of Education. Post Baccalaureate Nursing Students may be able to obtain financial aid (after completing their FAFSA forms to determine eligibility). This certificate represents a major in nursing for a student who has previously received a bachelor's degree.

Courses are offered over four semesters including two summer sessions. Because the program will be intense, it is expected that students will not be able to work while attending classes.

The Department of Nursing and The College of St. Scholastica are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
