We are happy you are interested in coming to spend a month in the Twin Ports of Duluth and Superior! Each year, CSS is the summer home to our Long Term Summer Renter program, which is mostly retirees and long-term out of state guests. CSS students are not eligible for LTSR rentals.
For 2017, our Long Term Summer Renters (LTSR) live in either two or four bedroom apartments in Kerst Hall. There are a limited number of apartments with disability accommodations built into them and are available on a first come, first served basis. Please make sure to read the Handbook which is linked below.
Our facilities have recycling and garbage disposal facilities in the parking lots adjacent to the halls.
What You Should Bring:
Bedding and Bath towels
Kitchenware, cooking utensils, and eating utensils
Television, radio, computer
Absolutely no pets (even visitors!) or smoking allowed inside the apartments/on campus as this is a tobacco-free campus. Alcohol is not allowed in any public spaces or outside the buildings. Apartments will only have bed linens for the number of regular occupants of the apartment, not the entire apartment. Bedding must be requested when you register to stay. Please do keep in mind that our heat in our building goes off in the springtime and cannot be turned on during the summer, bring warm clothes, extra blankets, etc. for those cold Duluth days/nights!
Mail services are available at our full-service post office on the ground level of Tower Hall. Temporary mailboxes will be setup by our Mailroom staff upon your arrival this summer. Please temporarily redirect your mail to 1200 Kenwood Ave, Duluth, MN 55811.
Residential Life/CSS does not provide any transportation or campus shuttle service. LTSR should use taxis, public transportation, or their own automobiles (parking is free over the summer in the lots adjacent to Cedar, Scanlon, and Kerst). Residents who fly to Duluth should prepare to rent a vehicle for transportation. More information can be found in our LTSR Handbook!
Events & Programming
Unlike other summer renter programs in the area, we provide very minimal summer social programming in order to allow you the most flexibility with your time. LTSR's will be able to enjoy the use of our chapel, student center, retail food service options, campus security, and library. Membership at the Wellness Center is available for a small fee (full summer $50/person, monthly $25/person, or weekly $5/person) via the BWC front desk. Mail services are available at our full-service post office in Tower Hall. The CSS Library is available for renters to use and can check books out as well.
Rates for 2017
Rates for 2017 have increased nominally from years past. The rate is per apartment, not per person figuring most guests come with a partner. Please read the LTSR Handbook for more information. Rates below do not include sales tax and credit card processing fees. Rates will be an initial registration cost; the remainder to be paid when you check in.
