Admissions Requirements and Checklist

1. Preparation

  • B.A./B.S. or M.A./M.S. degree in Physical Therapy
  • Current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in the United States
  • Employed at least one year, full time equivalent (2,080 hours) as a licensed physical therapist in the United States.

Note: Meeting minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission.


2. Application

Please order the following official transcripts:

  • Bachelor's degree transcript showing degree conferred
  • Any post-baccalaureate transcript
  • Any transcript with pre-requisite coursework
  • International transcripts: Please see the International Admissions Policy for additional requirements.

Transcripts must be received on or before the application deadline. Order early in the application process!

Email official transcripts to Electronic transcripts must be from a certified electronic official transcript provider such as Parchment, Docufide, Scrip Safe, National Clearinghouse or other certified, online transcript services.

Mailed transcripts must be in the original sealed envelope from the school. Mail to:

  1. Complete the Online Application. You will need to use an updated browser, preferably Firefox, Chrome, or Safari (please do not use Internet Explorer).
  2. Upload the Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy essay as part of the online application

    The tDPT essay serves two purposes: First to inform us of your ability to write at the graduate level and second to inform us of your potential fit with our program. The essay needs to reflect the applicant's ability to write at the graduate level, which is a critical component of our program. 

    Prepare a 500-word essay, typed and double-spaced, answering the following:
    • What are your reasons for pursuing a Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree?
    • How will seeking a Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree enhance your professional career?
    • How will completing the Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree affect your practice and delivery of healthcare?
    • Why did you choose The College of St. Scholastica for your studies?
  3. In the online application, enter contact information for two health care professionals (include one recommendation from a PT professional) who have observed your work. These individuals will receive an email request to complete an online recommendation form, with an optional letter upload. The subject of the email will include "Please submit your recommendation for *First Name *Last Name". 
  4. Upload Resume or Curriculum Vitae in the online application

If you have international transcripts or non-citizen status, you will need to complete the online program application and send additional documentation. Please see the International Admissions Policy for complete details.

3. Post-Completion

After you are notified a decision has been made regarding your application, log into your application portal to accept or decline using the Decision Response form.

Please use our accepted students information page to help you along the way, and remember, your advisors and instructors are here to guide and support you as you proceed through your journey toward a degree.

You may be eligible to receive transfer credits for coursework you’ve completed. See our Graduate Transfer Credit Policy for more information and complete a  Credit Transfer Application Form. This form can be completed and provided to your program advisor and/or program department contact.
