Welcome to the Disability Resource Center!
It is the policy of The College of St. Scholastica that all otherwise qualified students with disabilities will be given equal educational opportunities in the classroom and other College-sponsored programs and activities, including study abroad programs. The College will ensure that no otherwise qualified student with disabilities will be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination in any College class, program, or activity.
The DRC works closely with several CSS departments and outside agencies to ensure that the student has all available resources to meet their academic goals. The DRC is part of the Office of Academic Support Services.
Student Responsibility
Equal access is a right of students with disabilities, but it requires students to advocate for this right. Students must initiate the request for an accommodation, provide current documentation, and bring forth additional requests. The Coordinator for Students with Disabilities will work with the students on learning to advocate for themselves. Unlike high school, it is the college student's responsibility to assure his or her needs are being met and he/she is succeeding academically. College students are considered adults. The College of St. Scholastica must provide reasonable accommodations to "level the playing field", but the student must be able to meet all academic requirements and abide by the student code of conduct.
