FAQs

Giveasy is a digital platform that allows you to round-up everyday debit/credit card transactions and donate the “spare change”. It is 100% free for you to use.

The “change” or round-up is calculated as the number of cents to the next whole dollar. For example, if you buy a coffee for $2.65, Giveasy will add $0.35 of “change” to your running tally for the month. Had the coffee cost $2.25, the change would have been $0.75. If the coffee had been $2.00 there would be no change, as it is already a whole dollar amount.

Nope! Once you finish the signup process and link your debit or credit card, Giveasy will keep track of your purchases, calculate the round up amount, and donate to St. Scholastica without you having to do anything else.

Throughout the month, Giveasy keeps track of your “change” and at the end of the month, the app will donate your accumulated change (or the maximum amount of change that you set). Each month you will see a new line on your card statement with “Giveasy”, the name of the College, and the amount. For example, if your change was $23.19 for a given month you would see a line on your statement that says “Giveasy — College of St. Scholastica: $23.19.”

Definitely! Both debit and credit cards can be used with Giveasy.

Yes you can. There is no limit to the number of cards you can link.

From the website, click the three lines in the upper left, select “Settings” and then click on “Linked Accounts”. From there, you can simply use the toggle to the left of the account you want to pause and click it to the “off” position.

Right now the average is about $25/month. However, you can set a monthly maximum for your roundups. Check out the donations section on the site.

Donations through the Giveasy platform are tax deductible to the extent that the law permits, just like a normal donation to a tax-exempt nonprofit organization. St. Scholastica will provide you with a tax receipt at the end of the year.

It may take a day or two for a new transaction to appear, depending on how long it takes your bank to fully process the charge.

Yes, security is our top priority. Your sensitive information never touches our servers. Bank authentication, roundup monitoring, and donation processing are handled by our trusted payment partners Stripe and Plaid. Both companies are subject to federal regulations, compliance audits, and penetration testing. They are also trusted by companies like Venmo, American Express, Citibank, Lyft, Facebook, and more.
