Read with us! The College of St. Scholastica Alumni Association is excited to announce the launch of a brand new initiative: Saints' Virtual Book Club. Join fellow Saints (from the comfort of your living room!) as we embark on an adventure of reading and fostering our shared Love of Learning together.
Membership into Saints' Virtual Book Club is free and open to all members of the St. Scholastica community including students, faculty, staff, Sisters and alumni. Together, we will select, read and discuss three books over the course of the 2020-21 academic year (three books, three meetings, you participate as little or as often as you would like). Discussion threads and questions will be posted to Goodreads, a free social media platform dedicated to readers, and group meetings will be held via Zoom.
Interested in joining this fun and interactive reading community? Find our private forum here with details about our next book selection and virtual meeting. We are excited to read with you!
Saints’ Virtual Book Club is open to all members of The College of St. Scholastica community including students, faculty, staff, sisters and alumni.
Discussion threads will be posted to Goodreads, a social media platform dedicated to readers (register for a free account here and find our private group here). The group will meet virtually three times throughout the year via Zoom.
Joining and participating in Saints’ Virtual Book Club is FREE. You are responsible to purchase your copy of the book(s) or find them from your neighborhood library.
The group will meet virtually three times throughout the year: October, January and April. Meetings will last approximately 60-90 minutes, depending on the conversation. However, we understand that life is busy! We invite you to participate as you are able; read all three books or hop in for just one, you decide.
You will help select them! Polls will be conducted in Goodreads and members will vote on book selection. Decisions will be made based on majority-vote. Members will also have the option to add in their own book suggestions to these polls.
To begin, members of the Alumni Engagement team will offer prompts and questions to consider while reading. Eventually, we will look to members of the club to volunteer as future moderators.
