Advanced Trauma Training

Advanced Trauma Training at St. Scholastica is presented by experts in the field of emergency and trauma medicine. The course includes interactive seminar lectures and dynamic exercises designed for military healthcare providers with varied backgrounds, levels of training, and skills sets to provide prehospital and continuing trauma care for patients throughout the continuum of mass casualty and catastrophic events.

Course highlights

  • Upcoming course dates: July 27-31, 2020 and Aug. 3-7, 2020
  • Location: The College of St. Scholastica, 1200 Kenwood Avenue, Duluth, MN  
  • The curriculum meets the objective of the Required Trauma Training Skill Set as outlined in the NG-J37 HRF and CERFP Individual Training Requirements Matrix (Version 3) for medics, nurses and providers
  • Training includes classroom and skills instruction from licensed emergency medicine and trauma providers who currently practice at northern Minnesota’s only Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Participants will earn certification and continuing education credit in Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support
  • Participants will apply their skills using the state-of-the-art labs and simulation facilities at The College of St. Scholastica’s School of Nursing
  • The course will include 12 hour of simulation as required in the 4N0X1 Comprehensive Medical Readiness Program, as well as include content which meets the objectives of Block 3A-3E as listed in the 4N0X1 Checklist (20 Nov 2018)
  • Up to 24 participants per course
    • Participants will be selected based on dates of application
    • Course size may increase to 28 per course depending on demand

Each course package includes

  • Didactic lectures skills and intensive simulation training by emergency medicine and trauma providers
  • Training features high-fidelity simulation and live patient actors throughout an integrated trauma capstone event
  • Procedural cadaver lab training
  • All required learning materials and texts will be provided by The College of St. Scholastica
  • Lodging in single occupancy rooms on St. Scholastica campus (included in course fee)
  • All meals at campus dining facilities, with available considerations for dietary restrictions and preferences (included in course fee)
  • Access to campus recreational facilities and gym
  • Cost: $4,250
