Performance Finals

At the end of each semester, all music majors taking music lessons are required to perform on their main instrument or voice for the music faculty. Non-majors and minors taking lessons are strongly encouraged to perform as well, but it is not a requirement.

Sign-up sheets will be offered in advance of the date with time and location announced. Please make sure you have made arrangements with your accompanist well in advance of the performance final date.

Students are given ten-minute slots to perform repertoire of their choosing. This should be in direct consultation with your private instructor. Individual instructors will dictate policies regarding old/new repertoire, timing, memorization, etc. The faculty generally do not offer comments on your performances; we do speak to each other and your teacher regarding your progress.

Students are expected to arrive with the Performance Final form filled out summarizing their work that semester. Students who have given a recital during the semester are excused from the Performance Final requirement.
