Graphic Design

Solving visual communication problems

The graphic design concentration for the Art major at St. Scholastica offers students a chance to understand and explore our ever-changing world of visual communication.

Our program explores a full realm of design studies, including typography, print design and interactive design. Students progress through a systematic course schema that explores the history, theory and practice of one of the most influential mediums of our time. Most graphic design classes are conducted in a Mac lab using state-of-the-art software, allowing students to develop their design skills and fine-tune their visual communication.

Students interested in internship experience are placed in advertising agencies, magazines, or within an in-house team. This gives them the opportunity to learn firsthand about the commercial side of design - working with clients, producing work, etc.
