A day of remembrance

Reflecting on Memorial Day with gratitude

Held on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is often viewed as the unofficial start to summer, as families enjoy cookouts and take camping trips. But this holiday means much more than just a convenient three-day weekend. Each year on Memorial Day, we as a nation take a moment to pause and honor the men and women of our uniformed services who have given their lives in service to their country.

The local community will observe the day through the annual Memorial Day Parade in West Duluth. The parade will start at 12:30 p.m. Monday, with the route running east on Grand Avenue starting at 59th Avenue West.

At St. Scholastica, we are proud to be home to many veterans and active service members who have chosen to further their education with us. We strive to provide a welcoming environment and responsive programming to help veterans meet their goals.

Honoring our CSS veterans

Please enjoy this collection of stories about a few of our veteran students and alumni, as well as an article about a program that helps veterans build nursing careers. As we thank them for their service, we are grateful for the chance to have served them as well.
