Academic Advising

Transfer students will experience academic advising in two ways. The first experience occurs when you enter as a new student and the second occurs every semester after you have become a continuing CSS student.

New-student advisement

After you have received your acceptance letter into the College and completed the Transfer Student Online Tutorial (TSOT), the Academic Advising staff will review the transcripts in your file (both official and unofficial) and send you a preliminary list of courses to register for during the registration period.

This list of courses will be sent by email. Once you have agreed on the appropriate courses to take for the semester, you will then register for those courses online through the OneStop Student Services tab of the Cor student portal.

After your first semester at CSS has begun, you will be assigned a faculty advisor within your intended major. You're encouraged to make contact with your assigned faculty advisor as soon as possible upon notification of the assignment. The actual process of faculty advisement starts during Advisement Week for the following semester.

By the time you meet with your faculty advisor, the advisor will have a degree audit to use for your meeting. The degree audit indicates College requirements met and to be met for graduation. For example: requirements of the major, general education requirements, residency requirements and others are indicated in the audit.
