Scholarships available to all St. Scholastica students
No additional application is necessary for the Benedictine and Summit Scholarships -- all St. Scholastica students who qualify will automatically be awarded these two scholarships.
Benedictine Scholarships
The Benedictine Scholarships range from $10,000-$16,500 per year. They are available to all new College freshman applicants based on merit, specifically the combination of cumulative high school GPA and composite ACT or SAT score. This scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years or until receiving a Bachelors' Degree (whichever comes first). These scholarships are automatically awarded upon acceptance to the College and require no additional application.

Summit Scholarship
Students who qualify for a freshman Benedictine Scholarship will be automatically be awarded an additional $1,000 per year scholarship if he or she fulfills one of the following requirements:
- ranked #1 or #2 in their high school graduating class, or
- ranked in the top 2% of their high school graduating class, or
- achieved an ACT composite score of 30 or higher, or
- scored a 1330 SAT composite (critical reading and math)

Alumni Referral Scholarship
Deadline is March 1, 2013
Alumnus of St. Scholastica can help out a prospective student by completing the Alumni Referral Scholarship. This scholarship is for first-year students and is a $600 annual scholarship, totaling $2,400.
*** Please note that students can receive either the Alumni Referral Scholarship or the Catholic Referral Scholarship, but not both of these scholarships.
Catholic Student Referral Scholarship
Deadline is March 1, 2013
The Catholic Referral Scholarship is a $600 annual scholarship, totaling $2,400 for students who have a referral form filled out by a priest, sister, or other vowed religious. However, Lay persons with leadership positions within the Catholic Church may also make referrals.
*** Please note that students can receive either the Alumni Referral Scholarship or the Catholic Referral Scholarship, but not both of these scholarships.
CSS College Readiness Scholarship
Deadline: May 1, 2013
Amount - $5,000 per year
The CSS College Readiness Scholarship is a $5,000 per year, renewable, scholarship for students who are actively involved in an income-based college readiness program. This scholarship is in addition to the student's Benedictine Scholarship.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a high school senior who has been actively involved in an income-based college readiness program;
- Applicant will be a full-time student in the traditional day program on the Duluth campus, starting in Fall 2013;
- Applicant must complete our CSS College Readiness Scholarship form;
- Applicant must submit the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the scholarship will be awarded;
- Receiving this scholarship may result in the reduction of other need-based aid;
- The total amount of scholarships/grants (including your Benedictine Scholarship, other CSS gift aid, state grant, and federal grant funding) cannot exceed the cost of tuition;
- Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) as defined by the College (minimum GPA of 2.4)

CSSyes Scholarship
Deadline is April 7, 2013 (extended due to the Easter holiday)
Designed for great Minnesota students with great need, CSSyes offers:
- Full tuition, combined with your Benedictine Scholarship, and state grant and federal grant funding
- Four-year renewal (with a minimum 2.4 GPA while at St. Scholastica), so you can cover each year of your undergraduate degree
- Scholarship stacking, allowing you to earn other scholarships to cover room, board and books
Sr. Monica Laughlin Music Ensemble Scholarship
Deadline is January 20th, 2013
This scholarship is available to any major at the college. Students may receive a maximum of $2000 per year.

CSS Music Lesson Scholarship
Deadline is January 20, 2013
Scholarships are available for Music majors and minors to pay for private lessons on a major instrument or voice. Scholarships require an audition and are based on talent and musical potential. These scholarships are given in addition to other aid offered through the Financial Aid Office.

St. Scholastica Alumni & Sr. Celeste Shoup Scholarship
Deadline is March 1, 2013
Award Amount: Varies
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
- Son/daughter or niece/nephew of an Alumna/Alumnus
- Applicants must demonstrate potential for academic success including satisfactory GPA and/or class rank
- Enrolled as a traditional full-time student (12 or more credits per term) during the academic year for which the scholarship is made
- Students must apply each year (scholarship will not automatically be renewed)
- Scholarship applicants must demonstrate financial need and complete the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
CSS Multicultural, Inclusion & Diversity Scholarship
Deadline is May 17, 2013 (this has been extended from April 5)
The St. Scholastica Multicultural, Inclusion & Diversity Scholarship is designated to provide additional opportunities for students with an interest in advancing racial and social justice issues and demonstrate exceptional financial need. Preference will be afforded to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in American higher education, with an emphasis on students of color. Applications are reviewed on an individual basis and award amounts are based on financial need. This scholarship provides awards ranging from $500 to $3000. High School seniors and new transfer students are invited to apply.

Sister Timothy Kirby Social Justice Scholarship

The Sister Timothy Kirby Social Justice Scholarship program is designated to provide significant scholarship opportunities to students who demonstrate a substantial commitment to pluralism and the advancement of racial and social justice. The College will be offering 10 scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $18,000 based on a student's need level as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and will be renewable for up to three years after the first year. Preference will be afforded to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in American higher education, with an emphasis on students of color. High school seniors who have been accepted to St. Scholastica for Fall 2013 are invited to apply.
Raymond Prebilic Scholarship
Deadline is April 5, 2013
Award Amount: Two - $2500/year Scholarships
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a high school senior who will be enrolled as a full-time student at The College of St. Scholastica in 2013-2014.
- Applicant must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong consideration will be given to applicants involved with volunteering and leadership roles.
- Financial need will be taken into consideration in choosing recipients. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be completed by March 1, 2013.
- This scholarship is for current high school seniors and is renewable for a total of 4 years. The scholarship can extend out to a total of 5 years if the student goes into a graduate program at CSS.
- One male students and one female student will be selected.
John Baggs Memorial Scholarship
Deadline is April 12, 2013
Award Amount: $2,000
The John Baggs Memorial Scholarship was established to award scholarship funding to a student who demonstrates a commitment to community service and creative ability in the area of advertising, public relations, or journalism.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be an entering undergraduate student who will be enrolled full-time in the traditional day program at the College of St. Scholastica in 2013-2014;
- Student must demonstrate high academic acheivement;
- Student must demonstrate leadership potential;
- Student must demonstrate outstanding community service;
- Student must demonstrate participation in high school activities;
- Student must demonstrate creative ability in the area of advertising, public relations, and/or journalism;
- Student must demonstrate skilled writing ability through the submission of a cover letter and at least two writing samples.

Increasing Women in Technology (IWIT)
Students participating in the program will receive annual scholarships up to $10,000 in addition to mentoring and assistance in pursuing graduate study or employment within the field. The Increasing Women in Technology: Attract, Mentor, Engage and Retain scholarship program is funded by the National Science Foundation.

Native Teacher Program Education Grant
With grants received from the U.S. Department of Education, funding is available to provide tuition (up to $15,000) and living support to eligible students. Funding amounts and students' eligibility changes from year to year.

If you are a current High School Student, get to know your Guidance Counselor! These people are an excellent point of contact in learning about scholarship opportunities that your school and community may offer.

There are thousands of scholarship opportunities made available through the Internet. A couple that you may want to check out are:
Never give out Social Security, Credit Card, or Bank Account Information over the Internet. You should NEVER have to pay for scholarship information.
Academic Departments/Professors
Check with faculty and staff at the College of St. Scholastica, as they may be aware of scholarship opportunities specific to your field of study

There are many books and publications devoted to help students locate outside scholarships
Ordean Foundation
The Ordean Foundation offers scholarships to full-time junior or seniors from Duluth, Proctor, Hermantown, or one of the surrounding townships. Recipients must also be Accounting, Education (Elementary Education, or Secondary Teaching Licensure), Management, Nursing, Psychology, or Social Work majors. This Scholarship is for low-income students who demonstrate financial need through the completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
