What is SOAR?

The College of St. Scholastica is located in an amazing area. Students Outdoor Adventure Retreat trips venture into world-class, regional outdoor venues. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY! S.O.A.R. is sponsored by Outdoor PURSUIT! and is guided by well-trained student guides. Discover great opportunities to bond with other incoming students and acclimate to the college scene. Immediately take advantage of the tremendous resources in and around our college campus!

Mission and Vision of SOAR:

Mission: To place students in a unique environment with their peers where they can learn how to safely and respectfully explore and grow through experiential learning. SOAR facilitates experiences and discussions to help new students explore new ideas and begin the transition to becoming independent and successful college students

Vision:  To provide opportunities for interpersonal and intrapersonal growth through guided trips in the natural environment that offer physically and emotionally safe challenges.

So if you're ready to go on an adventure and meet some new people, look at the trip options and SIGN-UP!!! Space is limited and trips fill fast so don't wait too long.

Parents: Why do you want to send your son or daughter to be part of SOAR?

This is an opportunity to skip the hustle and bustle of move in day and enjoy the last hours before you leave your son or daughter to start their college lives. Our student guides will help with the move in process the weekend before the rest of the students move in. You can leave the college knowing that your son or daughter is about to spend the rest of the week with other students in the same situation. During this week they will explore world class outdoor venues, while building relationships, and learning about college life from student guides who have been in your son or daughters shoes.
