24x7 access to ATHENS™ system

The ATHENS™ system is available 24 hours a day for use by participating faculty and students. This allows subscribing colleges and universities to access the system on a schedule that works for their environment and classes.

Web access to all ATHENS™ applications

Access to the ATHENS™ system is via the Internet; any user, with proper id and password, can access the system from any web-enabled PC with high-speed Internet connection.

Telephone support for system related problems and user access.

ATHENS™ Support staff are available during normal business hours (7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Central Time) for technical support issues.

Timely set up of new users

Each academic session (for example semester or quarter), students and faculty using the ATHENS™ Subscription Service will be set up in the system by ATHENS™ Support staff and provided passwords for accessing the ATHENS™ System. This ensures timely and secure access to the system for identified users.

Implementation advice and guidance for ATHENS™ usage.

The experience and knowledge of the faculty at St. Scholastica using the ATHENS™ System is available to our subscribers through periodic learning events.

Additional consultative services are available, for an additional fee, to help faculty design course integration activities and to create specialized input forms.

Permission to use real-world clinical cases

29 rich clinical cases have been created and are available for each subscribing organization to replicate as desired. Replication services can be provided by ATHENS™ support staff for an additional service fee. Additional cases may be added by the respective colleges.

License to use Cerner and CSS-proprietary forms and templates

In addition to the Cerner-available forms and templates, the ATHENS™ System offers input forms developed by St. Scholastica faculty to support the educational process. Forms development specific to meet the needs of a subscribing college can be provided by ATHENS™ support staff for an additional service fee.

Each subscribing college or university will be set up as a separate healthcare organization ('org'). Locations may be defined or a default will be established within each college's org. Within each org, all users will be defined by appropriate positions, giving them appropriate privileges defined for that Position

Ability to create and use college-specific documentation and procedures for working with the ATHENS system

Subscribers will have access to an electronic version of the ATHENS™ Electronic Health Record: Getting Started Procedures (Users Guide) which is designed for end users. Subscribers may modify / personalize this document as needed to meet the demands and policies of the subscribing organization. The College reserves the right to request copies of the modified documentation as a way to further improve its offerings to future subscribers.

Any modifications made to this document must maintain the footnote at the bottom of each page recognizing CSS and the ATHENS™ project as the original source for the materials.

ATHENS™ Help Place

This is a website containing reference materials designed to augment the information which is available within the ATHENS™ EHR. Information available at the ATHENS™ Help Place includes standard abbreviations, Minnesota rules and regulations related to clinical documentation, cultural aspects of healthcare, and other faculty-defined supplemental reference text content.

Faculty-defined Reference Text

Information designed to enhance the educational aspects of ATHENS™ has been developed by faculty and embedded within the System for selected orderables and data elements that populate the EHR.

Standard Vocabulary and Drug databases

Industry standard vocabulary databases are available to all users of the ATHENS™ system and updated monthly. These include: SNOMED, ICD-9, ICD-10, DSM-IV and NANDA.

In addition, a drug reference database (Multum) is available with reference information to further enhance the educational capabilities of the system.
