MOOC Help and FAQs

Do I need to purchase a textbook?
Each MOOC has different requirements for course materials.  Please refer to the specific information for your MOOC on the website.

I am registered but I haven't logged in for a while. Where do I go to log in?

https://courses.css.edu

The course has already started and I would like to enroll. Can I enroll late?
Once enrollment is closed you will need to wait for the next offering of the course. To see if an upcoming course option is available, please visit: http://go.css.edu/learn

I forgot my login and password. How can I get that information?
You may retrieve your password here: www2.css.edu/app/online/mooc/retrieve.cfm?reg

Check the email that you were sent when you enrolled. It was noted that you should "save" that initial email
message for future reference. The site where you log in is: https://courses.css.edu and you will log in with the full email address as your username and whatever password you set up at time of registration.

Will I need any special software for this class?
You need a current Internet browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Chrome. Please be sure to turn off your pop-up blockers. It is essential that you allow pop-ups because many items such as quizzes, websites and discussion post components may be set to pop up in a new window and you will not be able to access them if your pop-ups are blocked.

For help adjusting your pop-up blockers, see this website: http://kb.blackboard.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=62523837

A site that lists supported Web browsers is here: http://kb.blackboard.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=62523837

Can I take this class from either a PC or a Mac?
As long as you have an Internet connection and a current browser, you can take this course on either a PC or a Mac.

I have a CSS account and am not seeing the course in Blackboard.  How do I access the course?

Since you have a CSS account, you need to log in using the instructions in the email you received after you registered for the course  If you are trying to log in through Cor and then over to Blackboard, the course will not show up.  CSS users have a separate account for the MOOC that was created when you registered for the course  You should login at http://www2.css.edu/app/online/mooc/login.cfm.  Use a different browser than you are using at the moment unless you log out of your CSS/Cor account.

How do I un-enroll if I decided not to take this course right now?
At this point, we do not have a website that allows participants to remove themselves from the course. However, this is a free and open online course, and there is no obligation for you to participate. If the session is not an option for you at this time, simply stop logging in and consider enrolling again when the course is next offered.

Will my information be sold to solicitors?

The College of St. Scholastica will not sell or share your contact information with outside parties, but may use it to provide you with information about other courses and degree programs offered at The College of St. Scholastica.

Will I have access to the instructor if I have questions?
This free course is designed to be self-paced and un-moderated. The instructor has created the course to be available without his presence being necessary. Please use the discussion area to converse with fellow students. If you have a technical question please click on Discussions and enter the Course Q&A where you can post and get answers to Technical Questions.

When I click on a specific link I can't view the contents.
