College Surveys and Reports:

CIRP
Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) a continuing longitudinal study housed at the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA. The survey has been done nationally for 40 yrs.CSS has participated for 10 years.

Data is used by those interested in: Policy, Analysis, Human Resource Planning, Campus Administration, Educational Research, Retention, Institutional Transformation, First Year Programs, Diversity, and Student Development.


CSS (College Student Survey)
This survey is part of a national study of higher education conducted by the American Council on Education and the Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California , Los Angeles . One major goal of this research is to determine what happens to students when they attend college. The data gathered are used in studies designed to better understand student learning and development and to help improve the quality of college education. The CSS survey can be used as a follow-up to the CIRP survey. Both surveys offer the option to add locally designed questions.

Institutional Benchmark Report

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) annually assesses the extent to which undergraduate students are involved in educational practices empirically linked to high levels of learning and development. In an effort to make it easier for people on and off campus to talk productively about student engagement and its importance to student learning, collegiate quality, and institutional improvement, NSSE created five clusters or benchmarks of effective educational practice:

(1) Level of academic challenge

(2) Active and collaborative learning

(3) Student-faculty interactions

(4) Enriching educational experiences

(5) Supportive campus environment
