Preparing for Your Arrival in the U.S.

Your preparation for arrival should comprise the following steps :

  1. Wait to receive the Form I-20A and SEVIS receipt from the College. You will need both of these documents for your visa appointment. Please read the welcome letter provided by Alison Champeaux. Transfer students who arrived in the U.S. prior to September 1, 2004 are not required to pay a SEVIS fee as long as they have no gap in studies more than 5 months. Transfer students (transferring from a US high school and college) will only receive an I-20A.

  2. Apply for a Student Visa (not relevant for Canadian Students)
For more information about applying for a Visa and preparing for your visa interview, please go to:
    Checklist for Visa Appointments

  3. Book Flights to the United States
    Check dates for Orientation first

  4. Arriving at a U.S. Airport - what to expect
Information on arriving at a U.S. airport

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Canadian Students are required to carry a valid passport to arrive in the U.S. by air or sea and beginning January 1, 2008 to arrive in the U.S. by land.
