Staying in Status

This information is a repeat from new international student orientation, this is a contract that students sign acknowledging that they are subject to these regulations.

International students should always consult with the Office of International Student Services first, with regard to immigration concerns. In the case of a need for an immigration lawyer, use the American Immigration Lawyer Association.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (US ICE)
ICE has information including frequently asked questions, answers to questions about travel and helpful resources.


Customs and Border Patrol (US CBP)
Students  can look for information regarding items that can be packed in a suitcase for international travel, or questions about Border Security (POE - Ports of Entry) and Customs can find answers on this website.

Citizenship and Immigration Services (US CIS)
This is the arm of Immigration Services that gives the benefits to international students, including OPT, Economic Hardship and Changes of Status applications.

Department of State (US DOS)
This website lists US Embassies abroad, wait times for F-1 visas at US Embassies and what information is needed for a visa appointment.
