The Minnesota College Immunization Law (Minnesota Statutes Section 135A.14)
Minnesota's College Immunization Law
Since the fall of 1991 there has been a state mandate for college students born in 1957 and later to have documentation of up-to-date immunizations against diphtheria, tetanus (Td), measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) with the exception of students who graduated from a Minnesota high school in 1997 or later (because they will already have met the immunization requirements as a high school student.)

Additional requirements for HEALTH SCIENCE MAJORS
Immunization for hepatitis:
The newest amendment extends this immunization law to provide education about viral hepatitis, including information about hepatitis A and B vaccines. It is the hope that this expanded law will not only reduce the risk of viral hepatitis on college campuses, but develop an adult population with more knowledge about disease prevention and transmission.

Immunization for meningitis:
In 1997, the American College Health Association recommended that students consider vaccination to reduce their risk for potentially fatal meningococcal disease, and that college health care providers provide information and access to the meningococcal disease vaccine. In 1999, the Center for Disease Control's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to recommend that providers of medical care should inform incoming and current college freshman, particularly those who live in dormitories and residence halls, about meningococcal disease and the benefits of vaccination.
