TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
How do I get started? If you would like to set up an appointment to speak with one of our SHAPE UP Mentors, please e-mail us at shape@css.edu. A member of our SHAPE UP team will contact you regarding your request and set up a time to schedule your appointment.
What should I expect at my appointment?
Your SHAPE UP Mentor will meet you in the Kinesiology Lab in Sci 1111. Your SHAPE UP Mentor will go over your completed forms regarding your personal health history, current physical activity level, and physical activity interests. This information will help your SHAPE UP Mentor outline a program that is created specifically for you.
The length of the appointment and its content is based upon your fitness goals and what you would like to achieve in terms of personal fitness. Most appointments last approximately 45 - 60 minutes. During the appointment, you will answer questions regarding your health history, complete the appropriate fitness assessments and discuss the results, and go over your personal goals.
What happens after the appointment? Your SHAPE UP Mentor will use your fitness goals, past exercise experience, and the results of your fitness assessments to design a personalized exercise program to meet your needs. You will meet with your Mentor about one week later at the Wellness Center to recieve your exercise program. While at the Wellness Center, your Mentor can answer any questions you may have regarding exercise equipment (cardio, weight machines, free weights, stability balls, medicine balls, and more!).
Your SHAPE UP Mentor will then follow-up with you a couple of weeks into your exercise program to see if you have any questions.
Your last appointment will take place back at the Kinesiology Lab approximately 8 weeks after you receive your exercise program (you should schedule this appointment with your mentor). In this final appointment, your SHAPE UP Mentor will reasses your fitness level to determine the progress you've made. Your Mentor may also discuss long term goals, how to make adjustments to your exercise program, and explain ways for you to stay motivated.
