Are you the type of person that needs a little help getting started with daily activities? Maybe you have tried every different diet and workout routine and nothing seems to work. You could also be the person that works out on a regular basis but just needs more ideas on what you can do to vary your daily routine. If you need any help or advice in your exercise needs, we may have the answer(s) for you!!!

SHAPE UP (Shaping Healthy Attitudes towards Personal Exercise) mentoring is a service that is made to help you get the information you need to start an exercise program that works for you.
When you first meet with your SHAPE UP mentor, you will discuss the personal fitness goals that you want to achieve. You and your mentor will talk about your goals and the best and saftest way to accomplish what you desire. Other topics of conversation may include your eating habits, your current exercise habits, your fitness interests, and the equipment in the Wellness Center that will work for you.
Your SHAPE UP Mentor should be used by you as a resource to get you started on the right track. The Mentor's purpose is to give you the information you need to start a routine and continue on your own. They are not going to get you on a machine and push you until you can't go any more. Rather, they might show you how the machine works and see if you think it will work for you. Your Mentor will not be there when you exercise; you will be doing that on your own with the tools that you have recieved. Once your routine has become too easy for you, make an appointmemt to meet with your mentor again to see what adjustments that you can make.
Don't like working out alone? That's okay. If you enjoy working out with a partner, no problem. Bring your workout partner along to speak with the SHAPE UP Mentor. Your Mentor can work with you and your workout partner to set goals that are realistic for the two of you. Your Mentor can also get you started so that the both of you can plan an exercise program that works for each of you.
