Brief description of the job:
- Purpose: To assist in running the campus recreational facilities and programs. To create wellness while being the first choice for campus fun. To provide a safe, clean atmosphere that will attract students, faculty, staff, Sisters, and alumni to the BurnsWellness Commons. To provide a full range of recreational and intramural sport programs
- Duties and Responsibilities: All Rec Crew members will provide excellent customer service while having the time of their life! Rec Crew members will manage the front desk, supervise the cardio area and weight room, and assist with equipment management. Other Rec Crew teach fitness, aerobics, and dance classes. You can become a trained Intramural official or scorekeeper.
- Qualifications: A big smile! A willingness to work varied hours/schedule, a responsible work ethic and a commitment to be an active participant of the best work force on campus.
As a Rec Crew member you will learn:
• Customer Service - how to work with customers (developing communication and service skills) - while having the time of your life!
• Leadership / Supervision - how to become responsible CSS community members, provide peer instruction, and enforce safety rules.
• Problem Solving And Conflict Resolution - how to address problems, develop solutions, and make successful decisions.
• Team Work - how to work with others from diverse backgrounds, support and empower others, and develop programming ideas.
• Management - how to manage time, resources, and special events. And you will learn all these important "lifetime Employment" skills while making all kinds of "lifetime Friendships."
You don't need to have an athletic background - but experience or interest in group fitness activities, intramural sport refereeing, Yoga or Pilate's instruction, fitness assessments, weight training, and/or first aid/CPR trained a plus. Priority will be given to work study eligible students.
