Mike Odberg, a Duluth-native began his love for the outdoors while camping with his family as a child. At age 14, he took his first trip into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, igniting a passion for the wilderness that has spanned over 25 years. While completing his M.S. in Physical Education at UW-La Crosse, this passion was fueled even deeper with introductions to rock climbing, sea kayaking and other outdoor pursuits. He was one of the first students at UWL to graduate with a concentration in Adventure and Outdoor Physical Education. He went on to receive National Standard Certification in Wilderness Leadership through the Wilderness Education Association, Top-Rope Climbing Instructor certification through the American Mountain Guides Association, Wilderness First Responder Certification through wilderness Medical associates and Coastal Kayak Instructor Certification through the American Canoe Association. He developed Ascending Adventures, Inc. a Christian Outdoor/Adventure ministry in 1999 and began teaching adjunct for the College of St. Scholastica and UW-La Crosse as well. Mike came to the College of St. Scholastica full-time as OP! Coordinator in 2005.

Mike has an adventurous (and patient) wife, Annabelle and two adventurous daughters, Erika and Bryn. They share his passion for the outdoors and recently completed a month-long wilderness canoe trip in Canada as a family.
Mike is committed to providing you with a rewarding and safe experience in the outdoors.
