Collaborative Learning Groups

OBJECTIVE OF COLLABORATIVE LEARNING GROUPS: Collaborative Learning Groups' purpose is to enhance students' learning experience in a specific course through thoughtful discussion, practical engagement, and thorough questioning of subject material in small peer study groups.

GUIDELINES:

Each Collaborative Learning Group (CLG) will:

- Have support of the course instructor
- Have students who elected to participate
- Be facilitated by a trained, upper class student who has successfully completed the course (and recommended by faculty)
- Sign a contract to maintain regular attendance (students)
- Admit no more than twelve (15) students in a CLG

OUTCOMES:

Students who actively participate in CLG will:
- Learn content material
- Be better prepared for exams
- Learn how to think critically
- Practice problem-solving techniques
- Gain confidence in the subject material

Courses offering Collaborative Learning Groups:

Organic Chemistry I and II

Session I:  Tuesday and Thursday nights  5 - 7  p.m. Tower 1121
Session II:  Tuesday and Thursday 3 - 5 p.m.  Science 3209


Physics I and II

Sundays and Tuesdays 3 - 5 p.m.  Science 1125
