Transfer Student Nursing Program Selection Process:

The College of St. Scholastica has been welcoming transfer students into its nursing program for years. The Department of Nursing is committed to being responsive to the needs of transfer students. The following information was developed to assist potential transfer students in their decisions about nursing education at The College of St. Scholastica.

In the past few years, there has been a national and statewide increase in the number of students interested in nursing. Accordingly, the competition among students for acceptance into nursing programs, including St. Scholastica, has risen. The following information details the selection process for transfer students entering the nursing program.

The criteria adopted by the department focuses primarily on what a student accomplishes at St. Scholastica. The required GPA for admission to the nursing major is a St. Scholastica GPA 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale). The nursing major accepts 112 students into each class. Twenty seats are reserved for transfer students having earned less than 48 semester credits at the College Transfer students who complete 48 or more credits at the College compete for one of 92 seats available based on their CSS GPA. The following criteria are used to rank-order transfer students for selection into one of the 20 reserved seats of the nursing program. The criteria are listed in order of importance:

1. Number of credits earned/or in process at the College. Although not required, 32 credits are recommended to be competitive.

2. The College of St. Scholastica GPA (the cumulative GPA of all courses taken at the College).

3. Transfer GPA of 3.0 or greater*

*If 32 or more credits have been earned at CSS, a Transfer GPA of 3.0 is not required. The Transfer GPA is cumulative GPA of all credits, earned and attempted at all previous colleges attended.
