International Student Admission Requirements

International students applying to The College of St. Scholastica must submit the following materials:

1. Download and complete theInternational Student Application which includes the following forms:

2. Submit a typed or clearly printed, double-spaced and no less than three pages in length essay on one of the following topics:

  • Describe a significant event that has happened in your life and your reaction to it
  • If you could change the world, what would you change, and why?
  • What person, living or dead, has had the greatest impact on your life and in what ways?

3. A $50 nonrefundable application fee in U.S. funds.

4. Original or certified copies of all secondary and postsecondary course transcripts. Certified English translations must be included with these transcripts.

5. TOEFL test scores, including the TWE (Test of Written English). The Michigan test will also be acceptable. We require a minimum 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) TOEFL score, with a 4 on the TWE. Students needing additional English language instruction are encouraged to enroll in intensive ESL courses with our affilate Global Language Institute. GLI provides TOEFL and academic preparation, and will assist international students in applying to St. Scholastica.

6. An affidavit of support (INS Form I-134)for students with U.S. sponsors (.pdfversion).

7. Complete proof of immunization form for tetanus, diphtheria and MMR (measles, mumps, rubella).

8. A photocopy of the first page (name-page) of your passport which includes your photo.

These materials must be received no later than 90 days prior to the semester you wish to attend. We prefer to have complete applications on file by Feb. 15 of each year.

VISA Requirements
As required by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations, international students must demonstrate that they have access to adequate funds to meet their educational expenses. St. Scholastica requires a $500 tuition deposit before issuing the I-20 form, which is required to secure a student visa to enter the United States.

Academic Readiness
St. Scholastica admits students each semester into our international program. Applicants must have completed a college preparatory program in secondary school, including coursework in the humanities, laboratory sciences, mathematics, social sciences and history.

Financial Aid is available for qualified students with documented need. Scholarships cannot be changed once the student arrives on campus.
