From its beginning in 1912, The College of St. Scholastica has provided students with an integrated liberal and professional learning experience based on the strong Benedictine heritage upon which the College was founded. The College of St. Scholastica was the first college in the nation to grant a bachelor’s degree in HIM, and the first in the nation to receive approval of its Master’s degree program in HIM from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Since 1934, The College of St. Scholastica has been a national leader in Health Information Management education and is considered one of the premier programs in the nation.
| "The convergence between health care and information technology is critical to support the clinical transformation that is expected in today's value-driven healthcare environment. Electronic health records are not merely automated documentation tools, but aids to evidence-based practice. Both product development and optimization of use by clinicians need professionals who can bridge the world of uncertainty in medicine with the black and white world of computers. I applaud the College of St. Scholastica for continuing its tradition of adopting new professional curricula and new technology."
