St. Scholastica at the Minnesota State Fair

State Fair Volunteers

Visit our booth

Thursday, Aug. 21, through Monday, Sept. 1, 2014  (Labor Day)

The College will again have a booth in the Education Building at the State Fair in St. Paul. Stop by from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and pick up some cool St. Scholastica swag and chat with our friendly staff.

Check out the State Fair's website for more info about the fair and a map to the Education Building.

Volunteers Needed

If you are a student, faculty, staff or alum of the College and are interested in volunteering at the St. Scholastica booth, sign up by using our online volunteer sign-up form. We will work four-hour shifts beginning at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily and we want three volunteers in the booth at all times.

The purpose of our appearance is to raise our visibility to the state-wide audience that attends the fair, some 1.8 million people.

Besides the fun of meeting many fairgoers interested in St. Scholastica, you'll get:

  • gas reimbursement up to $40
  • $10 meal reimbursement
  • two tickets to the Fair. Volunteers can use the other ticket for a guest
  • a T-shirt made for the occasion

Employees need to have permission from their supervisor or department head.

If you're an hourly/non-exempt employee and scheduled to volunteer during your regularly scheduled work day, your travel and volunteer time equals a full regularly scheduled work day, so please don't report to work at CSS on the day you're slated to volunteer at the State Fair.

Employees who volunteer at the State Fair on labor day (September 1) will be eligible to take an alternate day off. Employees will need to coordinate with their supervisor when this alternate day will be taken. Ideally the additional day off should be taken within the same pay period.

Have questions, comments or already signed up as a volunteer and need to make a change? Please visit our FAQs page or contact Jordan Milan in the Marketing Department, jmilan@css.edu, (218) 625-4495.
