Protecting Your Computer From Viruses

1. Always keep your virus program up to date with the latest virus signatures.
2. If you receive a message from someone saying that you may have sent a message with a virus attached to it, and you do not know the sender of the message, it is very possible that you were not the originator of the infected message. You can delete the message and scan your computer for viruses* as a precaution.
3. If you have sent out messages with attachments and the receiver e-mails you saying that a virus is in your message, you should check your computer for viruses* right away.
4. If you click on an attachment and nothing happens and no files open there is a chance that you just infected your computer with a virus. You should run a full antivirus scan* right away on your computer.
5. Check web sites like Symantec and McAfee for the latest news on viruses.
6. Be wary of e-mails that instruct you to find and delete programs from your computer. These e-mails are usually hoaxes.
7. Watch the College's Daily Announcements through Google Mail for any virus information that could affect the school.
