A portal is a secure webpage that recognizes who you are based on your role as an employee and displays content accordingly. After logging in, different tabs and content will be displayed for employees, faculty, staff and students.
Cor is the name of The College of St. Scholastica’s portal. Cor is Latin for “heart” and represents the portal serving as the heart of our digital community.
Cor allows for Single Sign On (SSO) to Banner Web Self Service, Google, and Blackboard.
Luminis is the application that powers Cor and serves as the interface between Cor and Banner.
A page is a screen within Cor that is the holder of portlets organized around some kind of theme. For instance, Cor contains a “living the mission” page which contains portlets containing mission, values and heritage related content.
A portlet is a box of content that lives on the pages within Cor.
You can login anytime by going to cor.css.edu and entering your network login (ie jsmith1 - do not include the "@css.edu) and your network password. We are still in a Beta phase, so we are still working out some of the bugs. Please provide feedback by going to the "beta test" page of the portal.
The “Go Live” phase will welcome all employees in August 2011 and will feature functionality for faculty, staff and students to include a “Living the Mission” page, OneStop administrative functionality for students, and targeted messaging by campus.
Click on the link from the College’s home page or go to https://cor.css.edu. Be sure to bookmark it!
You will use their LDAP (Gmail) login and password. This is the same login/password used to access the college network. You get a username as soon as you are accepted to the College as a student or become an employee within Banner.
Yes. Your username and password for the College’s Network, Google, and Blackboard should all be identical.
You will use your Google and Blackboard login and password to access Cor whether you are on a Mac or a PC.
Go to the Cor login page, cor.css.edu, and Click on the “Password Reset” https://wharf.css.edu:8443/IDM/jsps/login/Login.jsf, link on the top of the page.
Call the computer support help desk, 218-723-5911 or 877-723-5911 and select option 2.
Cor is secure and safe to access, but some browsers do not instantly recognize the security setup. Click near the bottom where it says “Continue to this website” even if it says this is not recommended.
There is a link on all Cor screens, at the top, under the Tools drop-down that goes straight into Google without re-logging in.
Yes. Failure to do so on public computers like the library or computer lab could allow someone else to access your confidential information or your e-mail account. The best way to keep your data private and secure is to click the Sign Out link in the upper right-hand corner of the window, and then close the browser when you are finished.
Cor employs SSL encryption, the same as most financial services websites use. The connection between your web browser and the server is encrypted, so Cor is secure.
Yes. After 90 minutes of inactivity within Cor, you will be asked if you want to extend your session. If you don't answer this question, you will automatically be logged off the system to protect your account. Always log off the portal as soon as you are finished or when you need to leave the computer, especially public work stations.
If you have a technical issue with your portal account please contact the Help Desk at 218-723-5911 or 877-723-5911 and select option 2 or e-mail helpdesk@css.edu.
If you have a policy issues or ideas that you would like to share with the Cor Administrator, contact Chris Bacigalupo at 218-723-7083 or email, cbacigal@css.edu
Windows users can use Chrome ver 6.0, Firefox vers 3.5.x or 3.6.x, Internet Explorer ver 7 or 8, and Safari ver 5.0.
Macintosh (OS X) users can use Safari ver 5.0.
When you click on a service such as Google, Blackboard or links to Banner Web from within Cor, you are automatically logged in and don’t have to re-authenticate. However, if you “log out” of one of these services, you also log out of Cor. If this happens, Cor will return you to the login page where you can re-login again. The rule of thumb is not to log out of applications while navigating within cor unless you are truly done with your session. If you want to close out of a service, simply click on the "x" in the upper right corner of the tab or page. This is expected behavior which ensures that your data security is maintained.
You need to clear your Safari web browser's cache and cookies. To do this, go to the "settings" icon on your iPhone or iPad. Click on "Safari". There are two buttons near the bottom of the section: Clear Cookies and Clear Cache. Click on both of these. The url, "email.css.edu", should work now. If not, contact the Computer Support Help Desk at 218-723-5911.
Banner Web functionality is built into Cor. For instance, from the employee or student employee pages within Cor, you can click on a number of links that will take you into Banner Web such as Pay Stub or Display W2. There are similar portlets on the faculty, supervisor, and student pages. Once in Banner Web, you may navigate around like you have always been able to do in the past. When you are done, remember to just close the window. Don't logout, or you will also log yourself out of Cor.
