Forms and Web Applications

Forms or web applications add the dimension of interactivity that bring the Web to life. Most Web pages are static and "read-only". Web applications let the user write back to you with comments, or specify database search criteria, or select from a host of alternatives through the use of text entry fields, buttons, checkboxes, pull-down menus, etc.

Examples include:

1. E-mail forms - simple response that is submitted to the site manager via e-mail. An example may be a "Add me to your mailing list" form.
2. Web applications - forms that interact with a database. Examples include e-mail directories, job postings, listings, news boxes.
3. E-commerce - a form that allows online payment via credit cards. Examples include registration forms, application fees.
4. Survey - a form that is seeking specific information from a group of users. Examples include student satisfaction surveys and follow-up questionnaires. The College has purchased a specialized tool to handle surveys called QuestionPro. Contact Lynn Kalnbach for assistance.

Due to limited web development resources, we may not be able to accommodate all customized application requests. However, we will assist in researching alternative solutions.

Timelines: It is important to plan ahead. Please allow 6-8 weeks for completion of your project.
