Welcome New Transfer Students!
You have chosen to enter a community that is focused on providing the absolute best education and the most fulfilling co-curricular activities and living environment as possible. Much of what you will learn here will happen through participation in activities and programs that occur out of the classroom. The Office of Residential Life and Housing is committed to providing this experience to all students who express an interest in campus housing. This website is designed to help transfer students understand the placement process for on-campus housing at the Duluth Campus.
Understanding the Placement Process:
Placement for new transfer students begins in July and continues through August right up to the start of the school year. This process sometimes includes identifying a variety of housing options for our new transfer student population. These options include both on campus or near campus housing facilities. By the end of the third week in August, new transfer students will receive an email from the Residential Life Office that provides housing and roommate information. As the summer progresses, and as you prepare for the start of the school year, please check your CSS email (or the OneStop page in Cor) for updates.
If the College finds itself in a position where it becomes necessary to utilize extended housing (housing in our first-year dorms or near but not on campus) options for new transfer students, rest assured that we have processes in place to transition students from extended housing to a permanent residence as soon as possible. As openings occur in our apartments, students are offered the opportunity to move based on their contract completion dates. Our primary concern during this time is to help you feel comfortable and supported to ensure a smooth academic transition to CSS. Below are some suggestions that we believe will help you through the first few weeks of class:
All first and second year students are required to live on campus. However, this policy does not apply to new incoming transfer students. If you have questions regarding your transfer status, please contact the Office of Residential Life and Housing at email@example.com or 218 723-6391.
We recognize that some new students may not want to wait until August to finalize their housing plans before the start of the school year. Because of that, the College has developed an Off-Campus Student Website that provides information about College resources and links to Duluth area rentals.
