It is crucial to practice before your first interview. Move away from simply thinking about responses in your head to hearing yourself say the responses out loud. Informal practice with a friend, family member or advisor is very helpful. Career Services also provides two formal ways to practice your interviewing skills.
Mock Interviews
Career Counselors are available to conduct mock interviews. During the appointment you will practice responding to interview questions and then review the recorded interview with the Counselor. Feedback will be provided on content, style, and poise. Call Career Services (218) 723-6085 or stop by T2150 to set up a one hour appointment.
InterviewStream
Career Services also provides the opportunity for you to practice interviewing from the comfort of your own home. InterviewStream is a software program that allows you to select interview questions, use a webcam to record your answers and immediately review your responses.
To get started:
Don’t have a webcam? You may reserve the Collaborative Learning Room in the library on the Duluth campus which is equipped with a computer and webcam email Library@css.edu or call (218) 723-6140. Webcams are also available at each of the ADEP site offices.
Also, at times companies will come on campus and offer practice interviews. Mock interviews are available as part of the “Saints Helping Saints” networking event in February. Look for details on the Upcoming Events Page as well as in email announcements.
